Privacy
Short version: we keep as little as possible, we never sell anything, and there are no ads.
Who we are
Meatball the Cat™ is made by an independent creator based in Québec, Canada. Questions or requests: hello@meatballthecat.com.
What we keep, and why
- A Google or Facebook account identifier (a number, not your name) so your cards stay yours. We never see your Google or Facebook password, and we do not ask Facebook for your name, email, friends or posts.
- If you create an account with a collector name and a password: a scrambled fingerprint of your password (never the password itself, and nobody can read it back), and your email only if you chose to give one, to help you if you forget your password. To stop robots, we also keep for one day a scrambled tag of the connection used to create the account (never the address itself).
- Your collector name, shown on the leaderboard.
- Your album page: your collector name, avatar, points and which cards you found are visible to anyone with your album link or from the leaderboard. Never your email or your Google or Facebook account.
- Whether you are old enough for an account. We ask your birth month and year once, use it to check your age, and do not store it.
- Your cards, points, Meatballs, avatar and spins, so the game works and stays fair.
- Which of our links brought you here, if any (one word, like “insta”), saved when you create your account, so we know which posts work.
- Who invited you, if you joined with a friend's invite link, so you can both get your gift pack.
- Your email address, only if you tick “Tell me when a new collection drops”. Otherwise it only travels inside your own sign-in cookie and is never saved on our side. At most one email per new collection. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Greeting cards are not stored anywhere: the names live only inside the link you share.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. That's it: no advertising or tracking cookies. A few things are saved in your own browser and never sent to us: your sound on/off choice, your language, your Junior Mode album, and, for 30 days, the invite code of the friend who sent you here and which of our links you came from. If you spin a first card before signing in, it also waits in your browser (for 7 days) until you create your account.
Who helps us run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the database.
- Google handles sign-in and serves the fonts. Facebook handles sign-in if you choose it.
The “Support Meatball” button is a simple link to Buy Me a Coffee: nothing from that site runs on ours. If you give there, Buy Me a Coffee's own privacy policy applies.
Children and Junior Mode
To create an account you must be old enough where you live: 13 in most places, 14 in Québec, 16 in Europe and the United Kingdom. Younger than that? No account is created and nothing about you is saved.
Junior Mode lets younger collectors play without an account: no name, no email, nothing sent to us. The album lives only on the device, and Junior collectors are not on the leaderboard. If you believe a child has an account they should not have, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices: see or delete your data
You can ask us at any time to see or delete your account and everything linked to it. Email hello@meatballthecat.com from the address you want to talk about, or tell us your collector name.
